FORESTVILLE — There is a new queen bee among the young Hornets of Forestville.
At a recent meeting of the Forestville Board of Education, Shauna McMahon was appointed as the district’s new elementary principal.
McMahon has accepted the position effective July 1. She is currently the Director of Special Education for the Cattaraugus-Little Valley School District.
McMahon brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
After receiving her master’s degree from SUNY Fredonia in 2012, McMahon worked as an English as a Second Language Teacher for the Buffalo City School District from 2012-2017. In July 2019, prior to her current role, she transitioned to the supervisor of Multilingual Education for Buffalo City Schools.
According to Superintendent Dr. John O’Connor, “The selection process was rigorous and highly competitive, Shauna rose to the top and her qualifications and experience make her an ideal fit for the position. In addition to administrative experience, Shauna served in the Buffalo Schools as an instructional coach, a position we recently posted for, so she will be very helpful in the development of that role.”
“This is an exciting time for us. We are looking forward to the future,” said Board of Education President Amy Drozdziel. “We appreciate the commitment of all of the parents and community members who participated in the interviews, as well as the staff who worked so hard to move this process forward. Their input was essential to making a final decision.”
McMahon, a Gowanda resident, is looking forward to connecting with the Forestville community. She replaces Dr. Charlie Galluzzo, a retired Lake Shore Central School District Superintendent with 27 years of experience in school administration. Galluzzo accepted the position on an interim basis on Nov. 1. His interim term concludes June 30.
