Fredonia Fire getting new patch

Submitted photo This will be the Fredonia Fire Department’s new patch, though according to Chief Joshua Myers, it will have a background closer to navy blue than the black shown here.

The Fredonia Fire Department has a new patch for all members.

The village Board of Trustees approved the patch this week. Fire Chief Joshua Myers explained Wednesday that he wanted both paid and volunteer department members to wear the same patch.

“One of the things… that we are working through is to become one entity,” Myers said. “For a long time, the career members wore their union patch … it was important to me that we all have one patch.”

The chief added, “It looks very similar to our current patch but it’s a way forward to have one patch for everybody in the fire department.”

It will probably take until year’s end to get the new patch on all department gear. Myers pointed out the patch vendor will have to update its output, and department members need time to get their uniforms altered.

Starting at $3.50/week.
