SHERIDAN — In order for it to continue, the town of Sheridan is in need of adults to supervise the town’s youth recreation program this summer.
Currently, only one qualified applicant has applied for the program, while the town needs at least four adults to supervise the events. Town Board member Colleen Yerico said the program is at risk of being canceled for the summer if enough qualified applicants are not available. To inquire, contact the village clerk’s office at (716) 672-4174.
The town also recently approved a building package for the pavilion at Sheridan Bay Park. The winning bid was awarded to Chautauqua Brick Co., in the amount of $8,194.87. The money used to accept the building package bid was supplied by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The area has been stripped of topsoil and is ready to be brought up to grade. The town will now solicit bids on proposals for labor to erect the building and for the pouring of concrete.
The town’s community center is in the process of having its roof replaced.
“They will get started, I hope, this week,” Town Supervisor John Walker II said at a recent Town Board meeting.
Also in the town, the Sheridan Fire Department will hold a Memorial Day chicken barbecue fundraiser, beginning at noon until sold out, on Monday, May 29. Tickets are $15.
The next Town Board meeting is June 14 at 7 p.m., after a public hearing regarding the proposed Erie Coast Solar project, which is set for 6 p.m.
