A Monday morning fire in Fredonia caused about $90,000 in damage and displaced two residents.

The Fredonia Fire Department rolled to 57 Cushing St. at about 7 a.m. for a reported attic fire. Firefighters “observed smoke from the front of the structure’s third floor (attic)” upon arrival, Fire Chief Joshua Myers said.

“Quick response from E-15 resulted in the fire being contained to the spot of origin and minimal extension,” he said.

Nevertheless, the blaze did an estimated $80,000 in damage to the structure and about $10,000 to its contents.

Myers said firefighters were on scene for about two hours and no injuries were reported. Two residents are displaced while the village code office assesses the property, he added.

The Dunkirk Fire Department provided mutual aid.

Myers said his department is investigating the cause of the fire.

Starting at $3.50/week.
