FORESTVILLE — The Forestville Board of Education honored one of its own during a recent meeting, which happened to be the last meeting for one of the members of the Hornets family.

Dr. Mervin Fry will be retiring from the Forestville Board of Education at the end of the month of June. The recent June monthly meeting of the Board of Education was Fry’s last meeting as a member. He was recognized and presented with a certificate and pin from Board of Education President Amy Drozdziel.

“Tonight, we honor Dr. Mervin Fry for his four-year term he has faithfully served on our board here at Forestville,” Drozdziel said at the recent meeting.

“Thank you so much for the time you sacrificed. … We have always appreciated your calm presence, your listening, and always objective input.”

Fry’s four-year term on the Board of Education officially expires at the end of the month. His seat will be filled by Jamie Gruber, who attended the June meeting as a member of the audience.

“It has been a privilege to serve the community this way. I thank the whole community for that,” Fry said. “I feel really good about the Board of Education. I’m happy to have been a part of bringing on new leadership for the Board, and new leadership for the Elementary School. I think the school is in great hands.”
