Fredonia's Republicans did not endorse a candidate for mayor at their party caucus last weekend.
That apparently clears a path for Michael Ferguson, the Democratic candidate, to be Fredonia's next mayor. The current mayor, Republican Douglas Essek, is not seeking re-election.
The GOP also endorsed the re-election of David Bird and Jon Espersen as village trustees Saturday. The Democratic candidates for their seats are Ben Brauchler and Michael Barris.
Finally, the Republicans have backed Paul Wandel against incumbent Democratic Trustee James Lynden.
