Silver Creek appoints Tampio as Village Trustee

SILVER CREEK -- It didn't take long for the Village of Silver Creek to fill its empty seat on the Board of Trustees. After Trustee Steve Romanik announced he would retire from his seat at the previous regular meeting of the Village Board, the most recent meeting saw the seat filled before the evening's meeting concluded.
Kathy Tampio was appointed by Mayor Jeff Hornburg to serve out the remainder of Romanik's term on the Village Board. The position will be on the ballot again in November.
"I'd just like to thank the Mayor and the Board for my appointment. I look forward to working with you on behalf of the village," Tampio said.
Tampio is no stranger to public office. She most recently served as the Clerk for the Chautauqua County Legislature for 11 years. She also previously served as the Town Supervisor in Hanover for eight years. A resident of the village, Tampio raised her three children in the area where she has lived for over 30 years.
"I would just like to welcome Kathy to the board, and I look forward to working with her," said Village Trustee Bill Barnes.
Mayor Hornburg said he approached Tampio about serving on the Village Board, and mentioned he anticipates she will run for the position this coming fall. She was officially sworn in by Hornburg and Village Trustee Marv Cummings after public comments during the recent meeting.
