Pecorella named new principal at Dunkirk
Dunkirk Junior-Senior High School has completed an administrative shuffle with the hiring of Cory Pecorella as new principal for grades 7-8.
Pecorella, of Allegany, was hired by the Dunkirk Board of Education on June 27. He is set to begin July 1 with an annual salary of $110,000.
He faces a four-year probationary period before he can go for tenure. To get it, Pecorella has to be rated Effective or Highly Effective in Annual Professional Performance Reviews for at least three of the four years.
According to an August 2020 article in the Olean Times-Herald, Pecorella resigned that month after seven years as principal of the middle and high schools in the Allegany-Limestone school district. He reportedly took a job as principal at the Olean BOCES Career and Technical Education Center.
The previous principal for seventh and eighth graders in Dunkirk’s district, Adam Hernandez, was named overall secondary school principal in May. That position oversees grades seven through 12. It opened when Rebecca Farwell was promoted to a new school district job, director of curriculum instruction and assessment.
