Fredonia extends contract for Zilliox

Fredonia Central School will have four more years of the same leader, as an extension for district Superintendent Dr. Brad Zilliox was approved by the Board of Education at a recent meeting.
“I am proud and honored to be the superintendent of Fredonia schools. I have enjoyed the past two and a half years, and I was looking to continue our good work together,” Zilliox said. “I appreciate the Board being supportive of an extension that will give us some time to bring some of those things we are working on to fruition.”
Zilliox had one year remaining on his contract prior to the extension. He stated the extension featured no notable changes to the terms of the contract aside from the added years to the deal. According to the most recent contract found on seethroughny.net, Zilliox received a salary of $165,731, which does not include the added costs of health care and benefits.
The district also approved a Memorandum of Agreement with the Fredonia Salaried Staff Support Association regarding hourly rate retention for specific personnel. Zilliox explained the agreement was pertaining to association employees who switched job titles within the district.
“Every once in a while, we have someone move to a different position within the Association. Technically there is a starting salary for those positions, but if they worked for us (previously) we don’t make them go back to the starting salary,” Zilliox said. “It is a way to have people keep their wage increases.”
Also approved at a recent meeting was the appointment of Kathryn Hinds Morrison as district clerk and secretary to the superintendent. Morrison replaces Christine Slagle, who resigned earlier this summer. Slagle will be paid on an hourly basis to assist in Morrison’s training.
The next meeting of the Fredonia Board of Education is scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the High School Library.
