Fredonia’s new dog warden, Jasmine Griffin, introduced herself this month.

“Working with animals has always been a passion of mine,” said Griffin, who started the job Aug. 1. “I currently train and compete in performance shows with my three dogs.”

Griffin, who lives in Pomfret, sought to provide contact information, noting that it has been hard to get a hold of Fredonia dog wardens in the past.

Her number is 716-398-0768 and can be reached from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. She will take after-hours calls for emergencies. People can also call the Fredonia Police Department non-emergency line and an officer will contact her.

Griffin has also started a Facebook page, “Village of Fredonia Dog Warden,” where people can post lost and found dogs.

“I wanted to become dog warden because I know how stressful it can be when a dog is missing,” she said. “I will do all that I can in assisting them home safely.”

Griffin grew up participating in the Chautauqua County 4-H program, training and showing dogs, hogs, horses and rabbits. She attended Alfred State’s veterinary technician program.

Starting at $3.50/week.
