Public invited to help shape future of Westfield’s downtown
The Westfield community is invited to a public meeting on Aug. 17 to learn about the Westfield Downtown Revitalization Master Plan and to share feedback.
WESTFIELD — The Village of Westfield in partnership with the Chautauqua County Partnership for Economic Growth (CCPEG), invites all local residents, business owners, and stakeholders to learn about the Downtown Master Plan for the Downtown Westfield corridor, and provide your feedback on these planning efforts. The plan is meant to cultivate a vision for Westfield’s downtown, identify priority projects to enliven the downtown, and develop a master plan that sets the stage for a NY Forward, NYS Consolidated Funding Application, or other related economic development program applications.
The village of Westfield’s downtown is a bustling corridor with a strong community fabric, a spirit of entrepreneurship, and thriving small businesses. Westfield has private investment and potential investment from developers that could bring more mixed use, infill development and reuse of historic buildings to the main street corridor. The village is poised to continue the energizing momentum and a clear and cohesive strategy for revitalization will ensure that new public and private projects complement the historic small town character that makes Westfield and Chautauqua County unique. The objective of this effort is to understand the existing conditions within and surrounding downtown, collect public input to identify key issues and opportunities, and develop a Master Plan for enhancements and funding opportunities. The plan is intended to identify improvements that could be achieved within a 5-10 year timeframe, and to support the village and county in pursuing grant funding to implement such improvements.
The public is invited to come on Aug. 17 at Eason Hall (23 Elm St.) between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. for a drop-in style public workshop. A poster gallery will be on display to learn about the Westfield Downtown Revitalization Master Plan project process and progress, preliminary project ideas for the project’s focus area, and the NY Forward Program. Members of the Steering Committee and Consultant Team will be in attendance to discuss the project and answer questions. Opportunities to provide your feedback and shape the draft plan will be provided as well. Organizers look forward to seeing the public there.
