Theft from Bush and Sons ends in Route 60 rollover

Submitted Photo The Bush and Sons’ Automotive Dealership was the victim of a breaking-in and auto theft on Monday. Chuck Bush, owner of the North Main Street dealership, said he hasn’t experienced such an incident in the business’ more than 42-year history.

A local ‘mom and pop’ auto dealer was broken into Monday, starting a chain reaction that ended in a rollover accident on Route 60 in Pomfret.

The owners of Bush and Sons, a locally owned and operated business at 1203 N. Main St., Jamestown, appears to be the victim of a pre-meditated act of theft and property damage.

“A person kicked in our door and stole the keys to our most expensive car on the lot,” said Chuck Bush, co-owner and proprietor of Bush and Sons. “A 2015 Audi, Q3, valued between $12,000 to $15,000, was stolen. This has never happened in our close to 42 years in business.”

However, the would-be thief did end up getting caught in part because of some quick-thinking neighbors of the small car lot.

“Our neighbors heard our door being smashed opened and called 911,” said Bush.

“Then this thief, stole our vehicle — which had no plates on it — and took off. We believe he was staking out the car and had called earlier in the day to talk about it from a Wisconsin phone number.

The thief called from his personal cell phone, which has a Wisconsin area code and number assigned to it, during the day to inquire about an Audi on the lot for sale. Later that night, Bush alleges the same person broke into the car lot, stole the keys to the Audi, then went on a joyride before wrecking the car, rolling it multiple times and totaling it. According to a police report from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies reponded to a reported rollover crash with personal injury at 12:38 a.m. Tuesday on Route 60 in Pomfret after the vehicle went off the road and hit a telephone pole. Police report the driver was Kade R Farbo, 26, of Jamestown, who was taken via ambulance to Erie County Medical Center for further medical treatment.

“We’re a small ‘mom and pop’ business,” Bush said. “Thefts and damage like are really devastating.”
