Forestville approves new hires

FORESTVILLE — The Forestville Central School District approved its latest round of hires at a recent Board of Education meeting. Among the hires included a new Library Media Specialist, three new teachers, a School Secretary, and the appointment of the district’s Dean of Students.

Susan Walterich was appointed as the district’s new Library Media Specialist. The four-year probationary appointment commences Wednesday and will tentatively expire Aug. 29, 2027.

Haley Broyles, who holds initial certification in Earth Science for Grades 7-12, was appointed to a probationary position in the Science tenure area; Peter Hanzly, who holds initial certification in Social Studies for Grades 7-12, was appointed to a probationary position in the Social Studies tenure area; and Rachael Clark, who holds initial certification in Early Childhood Birth-2nd, was appointed to a probationary Elementary teaching position. All three appointments commence Aug. 30 and will tentatively be eligible for tenured positions on Aug. 29, 2027 when their probationary period ends. The hires were all recommended to the board by Superintendent Dr. John O’Connor.

Heather Jackson was appointed as a temporary School Secretary for the upcoming school year, through Aug. 13, 2024. Jackson was also appointed as Central Treasurer.

Jon LeBaron, a tenured Science Teacher within the district, was appointed to the role of Dean of Students. His appointment commenced Aug. 11 and will expire on June 30, 2026. LeBaron will continue to earn seniority in the Science tenure area, and his salary and benefits will not be altered by the appointment.
