National 4-H title goes to CVCS teen

Charlotte Couchman is a junior at Cassadaga Valley High School.

Charlotte Couchman, 15-year-old daughter of Jamie and Sara Couchman, recently attended the Eastern National 4-H Round Up in Louisville, Ky., representing New York State as an individual presenter.

She competed at the county level in March of this year before moving on to Regionals in April where she tied for first.

Charlotte competed at the state level competition in May, securing first place and earning a chance to compete in Louisville on Nov. 4.

This year marked the 53rd Eastern National 4-H Round Up.

This is one of largest horse specific knowledge competitions in the country.

This year there were 232 contestants from 24 different states competing in Horse Judging, Hippology, Horse Bowl, and Horse Communications which is made up of three categories- Public Speaking, Individual Presentation, and Team Presentation.

Charlotte won the Individual Presenter category with an astonishing 290 out of possible 300 points.

In addition to a first place ribbon and National Champion trophy, Charlotte was also awarded a $500 scholarship sponsored by the American Youth Horse Council.

Charlotte is a junior at Cassadaga Valley.
