CIAO holds Christmas lunch

Chautauqua Italian American Organization held its annual Christmas luncheon earlier this month. Fifty-one people attended at Sunset Bay Inn where it was beautifully decorated with many decorations including a large Santa; members had the opportunity to have their picture taken with Santa. After the blessing by John Setera, members were invited to the delicious buffet with the chicken being the big hit. Beverly Pagano and Ginny Bonasara did an excellent job in organizing the event, including a musical pass the gift game that everyone enjoyed. Lynda Mosher chaired the community service project of filling Christmas stockings with treats provided by the members for Willow Mission, St. Gianna’s, and cancer survivors. A total of 45 stockings were filled by members. A special cassata birthday cake was made for Nance Ortolano by Shari Mullen which was shared to all members along with a delicious chocolate cake made by Sue Castle. The next activity will be St Joseph Day in March. This will be a dish to pass with members creating the traditional St. Joseph Day food. New members are always welcome. You don’t have to be Italian to join, just contact Nance Ortolano at nortolano@stny.rr.com or call 716-673-9177.
