The Fredonia Trap Team recently completed its first six-week fall season, as new students took to the sport like ducks to water.

The team consisted of eight new students, along with five returning students from the 2023 spring season. As Club Founder Jerry Kinney consistently stated, safety was a priority.

Fredonia competed against nine other teams across New York State in its conference, and held steady through the season, with a fourth-place finish.

New students consistently improved their scores from the beginning, and the returning students topped their previous best scores. The students saw much milder weather throughout the fall season, which was a major difference from the 2023 spring season.

The team’s top shooters received accolades at the Awards Dinner earlier this month. Kyle Pierce finished in first place on the team with a 22.90 average. Daniel Cook was second with a 20.50 average, and Aidan Kinney earned third place on the team with a 19.90 average. Cooper Stenger, a new addition to the team, received the team’s Most Improved award.

“Now that the fall season is in the books, we’re looking forward to the 2024 spring season, starting March 31,” Kinney said. “Several students are returning to compete this spring and go to the State Competition in Bridgeport, N.Y.”

Kinney also expressed his gratitude for the support the relatively new club sport has received, including the Hanover Fish and Game Club, which the team utilized as its home facility.

“Thank you and appreciation goes to all supporters, parents, coaches, and especially Hanover Fish and Game club for the use of their facilities,” Kinney said.

Starting at $2.99/week.
