SILVER CREEK — The Village of Silver Creek is gearing up for the summer with events set to kick off beginning next week.

Music in the Park in the Village of Silver Creek will begin on Tuesday with six concerts spread throughout the summer. The first two concerts will be held on June 11 and June 25, followed by two more in July on July 9 and July 23. The final two concerts in the month of August will be held on Aug. 6 and Aug. 20.

But Music in the Park is not the only time to look forward to this summer in the Village, as the annual Independence Day celebration will be held July 3 with music at Borrello Park and a fireworks display from Hideaway Bay to follow.

In other Village business, the Board selected All Out Disposal, a Silver Creek based waste management company, as its new provider for trash pickup in the Village. All Out Disposal had the lowest responsible bid for a five-year contract beginning July 1, in the amount of $152,000, with a 4% increase each year of the contract. The terms of the contract fall within the approved budgeted amount, and the trash pickup schedule will likely remain the same as it is currently.

“I’m glad that we were able to support a local business,” Village Trustee Kathy Tampio said.

The Village will also be soliciting bids for new trash bags. The current village trash bags have been a source of criticism from residents in the past. The Village Board also authorized the purchase of two dumpsters at a cost not to exceed $6,500.

The Village Board also approved a seasonal mowing agreement for 2024 with Roger Gloss pertaining to zombie properties and other properties specified by the Village in need. An annual agreement between the Village and Municipal Solutions was also renewed for assistance with grant-related projects.

The next Village Board meeting is set for Monday, June 17 at 7 p.m. at the Village Hall.

Starting at $2.99/week.
