Welcome opportunity: Fredonia Fire Department sets Saturday open house

Submitted Photo The Fredonia Fire Department is holding an open house at its Main Street headquarters on Saturday.

The Fredonia Fire Department’s annual open house is set for Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

The department will showcase new equipment, how the equipment works and why it’s important at 12:30, 2:30, and 4. In addition, people will be able to try on gear.

There will also be CPR demonstrations and the ability to sign up for upcoming CPR classes at the fire station.

The department will also have information tables for fire extinguisher safety and safety at home, along with a vitals check station where people can get their blood pressure checked by firefighters.

There will be information available on how people can volunteer at the department, and information on the new Duty Hours program.

Youth can enjoy pumpkin decorating and coloring, an obstacle course where they can use a fire hose, fire safety materials, and a Firefighter Fitness station where they can practice exercise moves. In addition, there will be Family Fitness Classes in the lower pavilion at 1:30 and 3:30.

People can tour the museum and fire station. Free hotdogs and drinks will be available.

The Forestville Fire Department will also be bringing their ATV and off-roading vehicles to put on display.
