Westfield native to have film presented during Rochester festival
The award-winning short film “The Worst Best Man Ever” will have its screening at The Rochester Fringe Festival on Tuesday, Sept.17 at 8 p.m. at the JCC Theater, 1200 Edgewood Ave., Rochester.
“The Worst Best Man Ever” is a romantic comedy about Kevin, a bachelor, who asks his best friend to be his best man, only to find out that his friend doesn’t like his fiance. A blast from the past ends up leaving Kevin at a crossroads.
The film has won Best Short awards at The Brightside Film Festival and at the Hang On to Your Shorts Film Festival.
The film is directed by Rochester native David M. Weilert and written by Westfield and Buffalo native Philip A. Ramos.
The duo are business partners who want to make films that make people laugh but also pull at the heartstrings.
Ramos, additionally, has an award-winning short film that he wrote and directed entitled The Kidnapping of a Fish that went to 35 film festivals including Hollyshorts — which only takes less than 10% of 4,000 entries, Edmonton Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival.
He is the youngest son of Drs. Fidel and Lolita Ramos of Westfield. Weilert is the son of David and Sharon Weilert of Greece.
Both will be moving towards making feature films. Catch their film and check out Weilert’s website at www.thatstormfilms.com.
