Budget makes Fredonia truck repair a challenge

In a sign of Fredonia’s budget crunch, Fredonia Fire Chief Josh Myers said Wednesday he doesn’t have money to fix a truck. However, Myers then told the OBSERVER Thursday that he has found a way to get the vehicle back into service.

Myers told a village Board of Trustees workshop Wednesday that the fire department’s light rescue truck, “which carries stuff for motor vehicle accidents,” is down.

“It has been out of service for about a month and half. It needs new tires and alignment, and I just don’t have it in my budget to do that because of budget cuts, so it’s going to sit for awhile,” he said.

But Myers told the OBSERVER Thursday morning, “I have found money for the purchase of tires…so it will be back in service next week.”

In the meantime, he said, “any calls that would require the equipment found on that truck we would have to request mutual aid for.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
