Bogosian presented a petition to the Village Board signed by residents seeking road improvements to Buffalo Street. New paving, drainage, and curbing are among the improvements sought.
At the recent Village Board meeting, Bogosian clarified the reasoning for a petition to avoid any “misunderstanding.” He stated that a petition was circulated to show the residents are involved and united in pursuing the necessary upgrades to the road. Bogosian has used the petition as a way to inform the residents of where things currently stand with the project and what the next steps are.
“An entire neighborhood is supportive of you and your effort to proceed with this process,” Bogosian said. “That’s what the petition is about.”
Mayor Jeff Hornburg said previously that the Village has funds available to allocate for an engineer to evaluate the road. Hornburg believes it will be a multi-year project, considering not only the size of the road, but also in making sure the right work is identified, rather than just paving the road and moving on to the next road in line for new pavement.

Bogosian also spoke fondly of the Village Board and small town government, which he called “precious” and very personal to him. Bogosian expressed gratitude for the Village Board’s willingness to listen to his concerns.
“You’ve listened with sincerity to what it is that we’re concerned about, that we need help with,” Bogosian said. “… An example is being set right here that there are others who would do well to follow. I’m very proud of that, and you should all be very proud. I hope you are, because it shouldn’t be taken for granted.”
Deputy Mayor Kathy Tampio thanked Bogosian for his “willingness to take on a leadership role” in the community. She called his involvement “commendable” and stated she looks forward to collaborating with him in the future.
Village Trustee Bill Barnes, who works in road construction, stated he will meet with Bogosian regarding Buffalo Street improvements. Barnes is currently involved in the Routes 5 and 20 project.
Also at its latest meeting, the Village Board signed documents for the transfer of land to facilitate a Department of Transportation project at the corner of Main Street and Central Avenue. The project is centered around pavement rehabilitation, sign installation, curb ramps, and drainage repairs. The project will bring approximately 90 ramps throughout the Village up to date with ADA compliance.
The project is focused on accommodating pedestrians to provide a more walkable community. A major area of focus in the project is the Main Street and Central Avenue intersection, while a curb ramp at the intersection of Central Avenue and Howard Street at its southwest corner is also set to be installed.
The next regular meeting of the Village Board is Monday, May 5 at 7 p.m. at the Village Hall.
