Top students are named in Brocton

BROCTON — Students of the month at Brocton Central School have been announced for May.

Lydia Lopez has been selected for the Middle School. She is currently a seventh-grader residing in Brocton with her mother, Yadira Lopez.

She is a member of the soccer team. Her commitment to the sport is a shining example of school spirit and hard work.

In addition to athletics, Lydia is involved in both band and chorus, enriching our school’s musical community with her talents. Her favorite subject is science.

Lydia plans to continue her education by going to college, where she hopes to build on her strong academic foundation and pursue her passions.

When she’s not busy with school and sports, Lydia enjoys spending quality time hanging out with friends and family.

Brocton High School has selected freshman Paige Miller. She is the daughter of Jessica and Ryan Miller of Portland.

Her athletic career is nothing short of impressive. She has been a key player in our school’s volleyball program, progressing from modified volleyball in seventh and eighth grade to securing a spot on the JV team this year. However, it’s on the softball field where Paige truly shines. As a three-year varsity player, she has been the team’s reliable catcher since 7th grade. This year, Paige celebrated a significant milestone by hitting her first over-the-fence home run in her varsity career!

Beyond school athletics, she is a member of Storm, a travel softball team based out of Lakeshore, further honing her skills and representing our community in the wider region.

Her talents extend beyond the sports field. She is an active member of the school band, where she plays the flute, demonstrating her diverse range of skills and interests.

Showing her commitment to giving back, she occasionally umps Little League softball games, sharing her expertise with younger players and contributing to the local sports community.

Looking ahead, she has set her sights on an exciting career path. She plans to attend BOCES for cosmetology, followed by college studies in business. True to her passion, she also aims to play college softball.

Starting at $3.50/week.
