HANOVER — The Town of Hanover has already seen a strong response from residents as it prepares a town-wide Comprehensive Plan. Following an initial meeting on the matter, Town Board member Aimee Rogers said, “Thankfully, it has been a great turnout.”

The steering committee is focused on including as many stakeholder viewpoints as possible in the plan, which will serve as a guide to decision making in the Town. With that in mind, a Community Open House will be today from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Hanover Town Hall, where residents will be asked for feedback and insight on the current draft of the plan.

Also of note, the Town agreed to an extension of its contract with Tim Nearhoof, Double A Specialties, to serve as Resident Engineer (Clerk of the Works) for the Routes 5 and 20 waterline project through Friday at a cost of $2,500. The project is expected to be completed by June 6 following slight delays.

The Town Board also recently approved payments of $3,000 to the Balltown Cemetery and $2,500 to the Smiths Mill Cemetery for general overhead expenses to maintain the grounds.

The Town is seeking a full-time Motor Equipment Operator for the Highway Department. Applicants should contact the Town Clerk’s Office.

Court Clerks Molly Merrill and Kathleen Tempski were authorized to attend the New York State Court Clerks Association Annual Training and Certification Conference from Sept. 28 through Oct. 1. The cost is $1,656 plus mileage and tolls, along with any fees and meals not covered by the conference.

New lifeguard policies and procedures were also approved by the Board. The Town also classified a project by Pyramid Network Services that submitted a zoning inquiry as a telecommunications project for the purpose of its permit application.

The next meeting of the Hanover Town Board is scheduled for Monday at 7 p.m. at the Hanover Town Hall.

Starting at $3.50/week.
