Dunkirk school makes long list of hirings

The Dunkirk City School District recently approved a lengthy list of new hirings, including some new coaches.

The district hired its recent multi-sport star Emilee Hanlon to coach junior varsity softball. Former boys varsity basketball coach Luke Gullo was brought back to head up the girls’ varsity hoops team. Marcella Dolce was named varsity softball coach.

Other head coaching hires included Jake Porpiglia for junior varsity baseball; Stephanie Wisniewski as modified softball coach; and Emily Pacheco, junior varsity girls volleyball.

Brooke Ridgeway was hired as an art teacher for Schools 3, 5 and 7. Alexander Smith was brought in as an elementary education teacher for kindergarten through second grades. The Dunkirk school district also hired Naimadys Doto Collazo as a bilingual education teacher for grade 4 and Emily Grace Vena as an English as a New Language teacher for Schools 5 and 7.

The city school district named a sizable slate of teacher aides: Heather Crowell, Wilmary DeJesus Maldonado, Crystal Echevarria, Cassandra Goodwill, Elymarilerys Ortiz Rivera, Lizmarie Pagan Fontan, Nathaniel Pattinson, Tina Raymond, Angelica Rosario, Danielle Salemi, Kelia Serrano, Lauren Speziale, Daylani Taylor, A’marion Tell, Breylynn Tresler, Annia Turpin and Yesenia Vazquez.

Also, Marlaina Cofer was hired as an intermediate school office clerk.

The city Board of Education agreed to all the hirings at its August meeting.
