Due to a technicality regarding the proper amount of prior notice, the Town Board has rescheduled a public hearing for the Sheridan II Solar project to be held at the next regular Town Board meeting, Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Sheridan Community Center.
The Sheridan II Solar project is a 3-megawatt solar energy system to be located at 2979 Middle Road. The project is proposed by RIC Energy, and it abides by the town’s solar energy laws and setback guidelines.
Members of the Town Board noted they were impressed with the presentation by Glenn MacKay, Development Manager, at a meeting in early July because of how well the Town’s laws were followed in the design of the project. The Town Board is acting as Lead Agency for the project. A decommissioning plan has been submitted to the Town for review.
The Town Board extended its bid deadline for the Sheridan Bay Park Campground project to Sept. 19. The change allowed for another week for interested parties to submit a bid. Phase II of the grant-funded project focuses on a newly constructed bathhouse. Phase I of the project, which is now complete, pertained to the installation of new electrical lines, water lines and drainage at the park. Storage and other facilities at the park could be included in a future project.

Renovations to the Community Center are now complete. Town Board members Colleen Yerico and Joe White both stated they were pleased with the work done by 3 Pete’s Masonry.
The Town Board also recently issued a resolution officially authorizing the project establishing Water District No. 4 to go out to bid.
The Town’s Highway Department is in contact with engineers from Chautauqua County about repairing a bridge over Roberts Road. Highway Superintendent Jeff Feinen presented plans to the Town Board that would repair the bridge for “a couple hundred thousand” dollars, rather than roughly a million dollar price tag as previously anticipated.
Additionally, the Highway Department received authorization to purchase a new Bomag Double Drum Articulated Roller at a state bid price of $51,938. The purchase will come from the Highway Department funds on hand. Two Highway employees were also approved to attend the state Department of Environmental Conservation spraying license training school virtually.
The Town Board will hold a workshop on Wednesday, Sept. 24 to allow for more discussion prior to the next regular Board meeting on Oct. 8.
