SILVER CREEK — Mayor Jeff Hornburg was “in and out all weekend long” at the 58th annual Festival of Grapes in Silver Creek, and he was met with positivity throughout all four days of the festival.

“I don’t think anybody really spoke to me in a negative tone. They were all happy with the Grape Festival and the way it looked,” Hornburg said.

Hornburg and Deputy Mayor Kathy Tampio commended the Festival of Grapes Committee for their efforts to coordinate this year’s activities. Tampio said, “Thanks to Diana Carpus and the Festival of Grapes Board, because they had a very successful Festival of Grapes this year. Certainly the weather helped, but it’s all their hard work that they put in all year long to make this a success. I fully appreciate it.”

Hornburg said the village’s employees with the Department of Public Works and the Water and Sewer Department “went above and beyond” to clean up the Village. Hornburg commended both departments for their efforts, as did Tampio and Trustee Sandra Lindstrom.

“I thought the village looked amazing for the Grape Festival,” Hornburg said.

Members of the Village Board participated in the parade on Sunday afternoon and spoke highly of the response from the public.

“I noticed the kids were extremely polite. We threw a lot of candy and there were a lot of ‘thank you’s. That meant a lot to me,” Trustee Sandra Lindstrom said.

“It was a good day for all, and I’m glad that everybody enjoyed it,” Hornburg said.
