City library hails work of volunteer group

New plants and mulch are evident at the Dunkirk Public Library.

Volunteers continue to make a visible difference in the city of Dunkirk.

Within the past month, members of Revitalize Dunkirk have been hard at work improving the landscaping and flowerbeds of the Dunkirk Public Library on Central Avenue in the city.

“With a revised garden footprint, new plantings, and fresh mulch, the Library’s exterior is looking great,” said Library Director Jason Hammond. “A sincere ‘Thank you’ to all of the volunteers who made these improvements happen!”

The mission of the Dunkirk Public Library is to provide unrestricted access to informational resources and services that advance lifelong learning, promote the acquisition of knowledge, encourage cultural enrichment, and provide strength to the Dunkirk community. It is open Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7.p.m.; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Hammond sent the OBSERVER photos of the work done by the group.
