Kolison lists goals for SUNY

State University of New York at Fredonia President Stephen Kolison recently listed 12 goals he has for the campus over the next four years.
Kolison showed the list during the first College Council meeting of the 2025-26 school year. He didn’t discuss each goal, but they were shown on slides.
Here’s the goals, in the order listed by Kolison:
1. Stabilize enrollment and university finances, align staffing with projected enrollment, and eliminate the school’s structural deficit.
2. Ensure maintenance of academic excellence and distinction.
3. Enhance access, affordability, persistence and completion for students.
4. Enhance post-graduation outcomes.
5. Leverage technology to achieve a greater efficiency and advance the university.
6. Enhance sponsored research and scholarship.
7. Champion inclusive excellence and belonging.
8. Increase recognition for staff and student excellence and good university citizenship.
9. Increase engagement and visibility with the university community, local and county chambers of commerce, and selected higher education organizations. Kolison also mentioned “efforts to transform healthcare in northern Chautauqua County. A modern Brooks TLC Hospital.”
10. Promote wellness and a vibrant campus life.
11. Strengthen internationalism.
12. Strengthen and expand initiatives to secure diverse financial resources to support all outlined goals.
Kolison also mentioned during his College Council report that a campus academic master plan is complete, and commented on the SUNY Fredonia – Jamestown Community College partnership.
“We have an agreement, so the next phase would be, ‘When are classes happening,'” he said. Kolison called himself “excited” over the partnership.
