A Sunday morning fire destroyed a house at 8996 Park Road in the town of Arkwright. Numerous agencies responded to the blaze, that was called in around 5:45 a.m. Those fire departments include: Sunset Bay, Sheridan, Emergency Services, Cassadaga, East Dunkirk, Silver Creek, Stockton, Forestville and Sinclairville. The individual in the house was sleeping on the couch when the fire began. The person was able to get out of the home safely. After extinguishing the fire, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause fire investigation. Investigators were able to determine that the fire originated in the living room of the home and was caused by a propane heater that was in close proximity to combustible materials. The fire was ruled as accidental in nature.
