SHERIDAN — Construction projects are much more expensive than they were just a few years ago. Even so, the town of Sheridan is still moving forward with another significant project, Phase II of the renovations to Sheridan Bay Park campground.

The low bids to construct a new bathhouse and a backflow system were approved at the latest Town Board meeting. 3 Pete’s Masonry will be the general contractor at a cost of $411,878. Electrical work will be done by Becc Electric in the amount of $125,428. Plumbing will be done by Chautauqua Mechanical for $97,668. The mechanical work from Vastola Heating and Cooling will cost $23,317.38.

The project is supported by grant funding, with existing reserve funds set to cover the remaining costs. Highway Superintendent Jeff Feinen was also approved by the Town Board to demolish existing buildings at Sheridan Bay Park to allow for the improvements.

“I think it’s a good time to move forward on that,” Town Supervisor Tom Wik said.

Regarding another new project set to begin construction in the coming months, the Sheridan II Solar Project, an agreement was reached between the town and the company, RIC Energy, for vegetation maintenance.

The Sheridan II Solar project is a 3-megawatt solar energy system to be located at 2979 Middle Road. The project abides by the Town’s solar energy laws and setback guidelines. The Town Board is acting as Lead Agency for the project.

The Town Board also accepted the project’s decommissioning plan, as submitted. Compared to other plans of its kind, Code Enforcement Officer James Crowell said the decommissioning plan is “one of the best plans put together and presented to us.”

The next meeting of the Sheridan Town Board will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Sheridan Community Center.

Starting at $3.50/week.
