Trifecta for ‘Tiaras’: Silver Creek High School play scheduled for Dec. 5 and 6

Silver Creek High School presents Don Zolidis’, “Game of Tiaras” this week.

Combining inspiration from three very popular entities: Disney, Game of Thrones and Shakespeare, this play turns familiar stories on their head for a hilarious experience.

“I think our audiences are really going to really enjoy this year’s play,” Student Director Irelynd Henry said. “There are some great funny moments that the cast improvised themselves. Choosing to do a play that wasn’t Shakespeare has really allowed the actors to make it their own. I am so proud to call this my senior play. I’m glad this is the one I will be leaving with.”

When the aging king of a Magical Kingdom decides to split his empire between his three daughters, Cinderella, Belle, and the Snow Queen (who in no way resembles a copyrighted character), terrible tragedy ensues. Terrible, hilarious tragedy.

Combining the gut-wrenching plot twists of Game of Thrones and the soul-numbing despair of a Shakespearean tragedy, this adaptation of King Lear will leave audiences crying with laughter as the body count mounts. When you play the Game of Tiaras, you win or you die.

“I play Prince Charming,” Kolby Jamison said. “I get to spread chaos wherever I go – which ends up being pretty funny. My character is flamboyant, zesty and loves to sing. I think people are going to laugh – and may even cry when they hear my beautiful singing voice.”

The performance features 31 Silver Creek students in grades seven to 12 as cast, production managers, stage crew, and set builders.

The community is invited to enjoy Silver Creek High’s student production of “Game of Tiaras” on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. The play is rated PG-13. Tickets can be purchased at silvercreekhs.seatyourself.biz. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students/senior citizens.
