Zatorski calls attorney ‘a waste’

Attorney Elliott Raimondo was under fire on Tuesday.

Dunkirk Councilwoman Abigail Zatorski called City Attorney Elliott Raimondo “a waste of taxpayer dollars” during her report time at the latest Common Council meeting.

Zatorski is angry at Raimondo because she says he has failed to work with her on a downtown parking issue. She said he agreed in August to provide “necessary documents and resolutions to address the parking issue.”

However, according to the councilwoman, Raimondo did not respond to an email in October about the issue. Later in the month, she asked him about it and he said he would get the documents to her immediately. That didn’t happen.

A couple hours before the previous council meeting on Nov. 6. Zatorski said Raimondo emailed her that a draft resolution was not done yet, but it would be ready for the next meeting.

“Here we are at the next meeting, no response since the two-hour before the last meeting,” Zatorski complained. “What is your explanation as to why you refuse to work with the council as part of your job as the city attorney?”

“I apologize,” Raimondo said.

“That’s not good enough, Elliott. That is not good enough!” Zatorski declared. “You are a waste of taxpayer dollars in my eyes, because you have not committed yourself to this council at all, for the last almost two years. And you should be ashamed of yourself.”

Referring to her as simply “Kate,” Zatorski also slammed Mayor Kate Wdowiasz. “You should be embarrassed that you appointed him to be the city attorney.”

Raimondo said “OK” several times as Zatorski attacked him but had no further response. The mayor also did not respond, and Zatorski ended her report.

Starting at $3.50/week.
