Dunkirk police bust 2 for weapons threats

Two people who threatened others with weapons were arrested by Dunkirk police in separate incidents recently.

The first one happened Nov. 19. Police responded to a report of a subject menacing employees with a knife at an East Fourth Street business. The man fled the scene, but police determined he brandished what appeared to be a kitchen knife and threatened store workers. Police learned the man also allegedly threatened staff the previous day with a pocket knife.

After investigation, the man was identified as Jesus Fernandez-Gonzalez, 34, of Dunkirk. Fernandez-Gonzalez was arrested Dec. 9 and charged with second-degree menacing. He was held for arraignment and released on his own recognizance.

The second incident occurred Dec. 2, where a Dunkirk man allegedly threatened residents of a Deer Street house with a large stick.

Dunkirk police report they responded to a neighboring house for a reported disorderly subject. The subject fled before the cops came, but it was determined he had damaged several items at the address. He then allegedly went nearby to another house and also damaged items, additionally threatening the residents with a big stick.

The subject was Jonathan Gonzalez-Colon, 34, of Dunkirk. He was located at a nearby business, arrested, and charged with second- degree menacing and two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief. He was held for arraignment and released on his own recognizance.
