Hanover clerk’s office shows holiday cheer

HANOVER — No municipality has more holiday cheer than the town of Hanover.

With decorations on display throughout the halls, the Hanover Town Clerk’s Office was selected as the winner of a building-wide holiday decorating contest between all departments of the town.

Town Clerk Elizabeth VanCheri celebrated the contest as a way to spread holiday cheer to residents who visit the Town Hall, while strengthening workplace relationships between Town of Hanover employees.

The Town Clerk’s Office collected $1,280 in revenue in the month of November, stemming from 289 state Department of Environmental Conservation Licenses, tags, and permits issued; 91 Dog Licenses issued; and eight Handicap tags issued. The Town Clerk’s Office collected $1,486 in revenue in October.

The Town Justice Court collected $14,247 in the month of November, stemming from 204 Traffic Law cases, eight Penal Law cases, four Transportation Law cases, three Civil Law cases, one Agriculture and Markets Law case, and one matter of Mental Health. The Court collected $15,798 in the month of October.

The Code Enforcement Office issued seven permits in November, with four in the town of Hanover and three in the village of Silver Creek. Additionally, 15 Code Violations were issued, including eight in the town and seven in the village, along with five verbal warnings. A total of $850 was collected in the month of November, compared to $2,400 collected in October.

The Town Hall is closed in observance of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day, with a half-day on New Year’s Eve. The Town Court’s hours of operation have been amended from Dec. 11 to Jan. 15, as well, opening at 9 a.m. Monday-Friday, but closing at 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; closing at 3 p.m. on Wednesday; and closing at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

The next meeting of the Hanover Town Board is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 29 at 3 p.m., designed for bookkeeping purposes to close out the calendar year. The annual Reorganizational Meeting of the Town is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 2 at 3 p.m.
