Silver Creek Capital Project bids approved

SILVER CREEK — The largest Capital Project in the history of Silver Creek Central Schools is moving ahead of schedule. Following recent approval from the State Education Department, the district officially awarded the bids for the 2025 Capital Project, which was approved by voters a year ago, at its recent Board of Education meeting.

Rodriguez Construction Group was approved for general trades work in the amount of $4,477,000. Mollenberg-Betz contractors will handle the HVAC work at a cost of $6,557,900. The electrical work will be done by Frey Electric at a cost of $4,705,000. Site work will be done by Louis Del Prince & Sons in the amount of $4,495,000. Huber Construction, Inc., was approved for carpentry work in the amount of $2,143,200. Arric Corp. was approved for abatement and demolition in the amount of $1,043,003. M.K.S. Plumbing will handle the plumbing services at a cost of $921,200.

Parkitects will handle the playground at a cost of $999,607. Toth Sports will install interior and exterior scoreboards throughout the district at a cost of $212,685.

Day Automation will handle the addition of cameras on campus at a cost of $96,718, with an additional $10,876 for cameras at the athletic fields. Day Automation will also handle various other security upgrades totaling $186,390.

The bids were received on Nov. 25. Superintendent Dr. Katie Ralston is authorized to approve change orders related to the Capital Project up to $35,000 prior to Board approval. The total project cost is estimated to be $36.1 million, with no tax impact due to a $5.7 million contribution from the District’s Capital Reserve fund.

In other district news, as an example of holiday spirit, All Out Disposal, an Amazon Hub Partner, donated 60 winter coats, 60 winter hats, and 60 pairs of socks to be distributed to students in need. Dave’s Outlet Store in Silver Creek also donated 60 pre-lit Christmas trees and decorations to be distributed to families in need.

Additionally, the Silver Creek PTSA donated 467 food items and a storage cabinet collected at the Track or Treat event; and the Michael Boedo Community Foundation donated a storage cabinet to create a food pantry for students. The Board also recognized the donation of a six-foot tall metal knight statue in the High School Lobby from the Fenske family.
