CLYMER — With the merger feasibility study officially underway for Clymer, Sherman and Panama Schools, a meeting between the three school board presidents was held recently to discuss technicalities and the upcoming community survey at the end of the month.
At the January Clymer Board of Education meeting, Ed Mulkearn, Clymer school board president, reported on the meeting between the three board presidents and Shelly O’Boyle, CSP Merger Study project coordinator, and what was discussed.
Mulkearn said a big portion of the meeting was spent looking at how grants will be structured and the financial impacts on each of the schools. Another big item of note was the planned community survey on the merger process, scheduled for release on Jan. 28.
“We talked about how we’re going to advertise for the survey,” Mulkearn said. “A couple of things came up that I was in support of. One of them was we do a mailer, just do it like a post card mailer, and send it out to everyone in the district.”
A concern was brought up about the amount of constituents in the communities that might not be good with electronics and able to access the survey that way. A non-electronic survey option will be available as well.
Another idea discussed by the board presidents, Mulkearn said, was having 10 to 15 yard signs for each district with a QR code so that those that have a better handle on technology can access the survey easier. Mulkearn asked the Clymer school board for their thoughts, and board members expressed liking those ideas as well.
The next upcoming joint meeting was then discussed, and who will be able to attend.
“We want to get all of the board members involved, and get everybody involved,” Mulkearn said.
The community survey about the merger process will be released to each school community Jan. 28.
