Hanover planning for America’s 250th birthday

Two hundred and fifty years ago, throughout 1775 and the early part of 1776, 56 men gathered in Philadelphia to discuss the unimaginable, a war for freedom against the largest and best military in the world, England, our mother country.

It is difficult for us to even imagine the stress they must have endured to make that final decision knowing that not only would they face charges of tyranny if caught but many lives would be lost fighting for this cause. But they felt passionate enough that those present signed the Declaration of Independence on July Fourth, setting the stage for war but ultimately freedom.

In light of that monumental event in our country’s history we invite you to join the fun with the Town of Hanover community celebrating the 250th Fourth of July, called a Seminquincentennial or a Sestercentennial, or commonly referred to as the Quarter Millennium or simply America250 or even “The Big Two-Five-Oh”!

Come to our next meeting on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. to the Forestville Meeting House, 37 Center St., Forestville, to help become a part of this year’s celebration in Hanover! We are looking for groups, and individuals.

We have many great ideas and are looking for more to make this event one for the record books! We would love you to be a part of this historic event!

Please join us! If you need more info, please call or text: Aimee Rogers at 716-870-5087 or Traci Domenico at 716-560-8277.

Starting at $3.50/week.
