The Fredonia Fire Department rolled to and extinguished a fire at 126 Pulaski St. around 8:36 a.m. Monday.

Scanner reports indicated all occupants got out safely. However, the fire department reported that one resident was transported to a local emergency room with non-life threatening injuries.

The second floor appeared significantly damaged, with charred walls visible through broken windows.

“Thanks to the quick response and coordinated actions of firefighters, the fire was contained to the room of origin (on the second floor), preventing further damage to the remainder of the house,” according to the Fredonia Fire Department’s press release.

The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team reported that it was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause fire investigation. Investigators were able to determine that the fire originated in an upstairs bedroom due to a malfunction of an electric heating pad. The fire was ruled as accidental.

The Fredonia Fire Department was also assisted by the Dunkirk Fire Department, Fredonia Police Department, Alstar EMS, National Grid, and National Fuel.
