MAYVILLE – The coffee is ready!

On Wednesday, local and county officials gathered at the Mayville Tim Hortons to celebrate its opening and to cut the ribbon.

This Tim Hortons is owned by Gina and David Kron. It’s their sixth restaurant. They have other ones in Westfield, Cassadaga, Dunkirk and Fredonia.

There are other Tim Hortons in the county that are run by different franchise owners.

The Mayville Tim Hortons is located on West Chautauqua Street, Mayville, a stone’s throw from the center of the village and walking distance to the county office buildings.

Tim Hortons owners Gina and David Kron accept a proclamation that was read by County Executive PJ Wendel during the ribbon cutting of their Mayville store.

Previously there had been the Mayville Diner at that location, but it was destroyed in an arson fire back on Dec. 9, 2019. A restaurant had been there for more than 70 years.

Once the fire destroyed the building, the village of Mayville was able to take possession of the property, clean it up and sell it.

Mayor Rick Syper was at the ribbon-cutting ceremony and shared how state Sen. George Borrello was able to connect him to the Krons about the possibility of having a Tim Hortons built there.

“Mayville is really excited with your passion and what you bring to our community,” he said.

County Executive PJ Wendel said Borrello actually talked to the Krons about opening a Tim Hortons kiosk in the county office building back when Borrello was county executive.

Wendel said since Tim Hortons has opened a lot of county employees have been visiting there. “It’s great. I walk through the county office building; I can’t tell you how many Tim Hortons cups I see on desks,” he said with a laugh.

Owner Gina Kron thanked everyone for their support. “We’re so excited to be here in Mayville. We have been working on this project for quite a while and we were finally able to get open here just before the holidays,” she said.

Kron continued, “We really could not have this growth without the support of the community that we get. We appreciate our communities that we’re in so much and also our employees. We have such wonderful employees.”

The Mayville Tim Hortons construction started in May. It was first proposed two years prior.

Starting at $3.50/week.
