Brocton approves Music in the Park lineup

BROCTON — Snow is still on the ground, but the village of Brocton is already looking ahead to summer. Julie Morrison Putcher, Ahira Hall Memorial Library Director, announced the lineup for the annual Music in the Park series this summer at a recent Village Board meeting.

Six acts are lined up for Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m. at Ryckman Park in Brocton, spanning the months of July and August. The New Horizons Band kicks off the series on July 9. Ion Sky will play an acoustic show on July 16. Pat Cook’s Women of Country is July 23. The month of July wraps up with the Swamp Yankees duo. Bill Piper & Company performs on Aug. 6, then a week later, Check 1, 2, 3 wraps up the concert series on Aug. 13.

The concert series is sponsored by the Ahira Hall Memorial Library, with additional support provided by the Village of Brocton, the Town of Portland, and various other community sponsors. The events will also feature a 50/50 raffle with tickets available throughout the summer. The winner will be announced at the final concert on Aug. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Also this summer, Brocton’s own community yard sale initiative, “Arch and Seller Days”, will be held May 29-31. Village Trustee Drew Ransom stated a desire to utilize Ryckman Park more during the event as a “central hub”, with a swap meet style of event under consideration.

Additionally, Brocton’s village-wide Cleanup Day will be on May 16. Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to participate.

The Village has moved its May monthly meeting from Wednesday, May 20 to Monday, May 18. The Village Hall will be closed May 21-22.
