The Dunkirk Hero Banner program is taking applications for new banners.

Dunkirk’s Hero Banner program is taking applications for its fourth year, director Natalie Luczkowiak said.

Luczkowiak, a Common Council member, offered an update about the popular program recently at a council meeting. The banners depict military veterans with Dunkirk roots and are scattered throughout the city.

“We have some people from the first year wanting their banners personally, and this opens up space for new patrons, as we have a limit of 250 due to the extremely busy season of our parks department,” Luczkowiak said.
