Fredonia concerts ‘99%’ likely to return, trustee says

Fredonia’s summer concert series is “99%” likely to return this year, according to village Trustee Paul Wandel.

“The Music in the Park concert series looks like it’s going to happen,” Wandel told a Board of Trustees workshop last week. “The reason for that is, Festivals Fredonia has offered to work with the village and provide pretty much everything — the music, the organization.”

Wandel said he was set to meet with Festivals Fredonia representatives about the concert series later that day. The series was held on summer Wednesdays in Barker Common until it was cancelled last year over funding and booking issues.

“I can provide updates as this goes along, but just to announce that I believe we’re about 99% sure, if not close to 100%, that it will kick off. The first one will be July 1,” he said.

There was some discussion about moving the series to Fridays. However, Wandel said the concerts will still happen on Wednesdays.

Larry Fiorella, president of the Festivals Fredonia executive board, was on vacation last week and unavailable for comment.

Starting at $3.50/week.
