OBSERVER Photos by M.J. Stafford Paul Dudkowski of CPL presents a floor plan for a new Town Hall at a meeting of the Pomfret Town Board in January.
The Pomfret Town Board was unable to approve a floor plan for the new Town Hall at a special meeting set for the purpose, because the state court system has not yet approved it.
The board’s second meeting of January occurred because new member EvaDawn Bashaw wanted to go over the floor plans before she voted on them. Town Supervisor Dan Pacos is anxious to move ahead with the project and agreed to the meeting, hoping the board could vote on a plan so construction can move ahead.
However, work at the former church on Chestnut Road will have to wait.
“We’re at a schematic design level,” said Paul Dudkowski of CPL, the engineering firm designing the floor plan. “There will be changes along the way.”
Dudkowski and town officials bantered for nearly an hour about the finer points of the floor plan. The town officials had taken a tour of the Chestnut Road building earlier in the day.

The new town hall will host the Pomfret Senior Center, Pomfret Town Court, and town assessor as well. Dudkowski promised to update on whether the state has approved the court layout at the February Pomfret Town Board meeting.
Pacos originally wanted the town of Dunkirk offices to move in too, but the Dunkirk Town Board turned him down.
