Michael and Chuck Skelly wanted to help their community. Their event, “Brothers Breaking Tables”, was aimed at supporting two local organizations: JFT Recovery and Veterans Support Services in Pennsylvania, where Michael is from, and the Rural Ministry in Dunkirk, where Chuck is from.

“We are both so grateful for the support of so many people, not for us, but for the communities we serve,” Michael Skelly said after the event. “That’s what Bills Mafia does – we serve.”

Now it is Bills Mafia’s turn to support one of their own, as Michael Skelly is in the running for the title of Mr. Health & Fitness. Now in the quarterfinal stage of voting, the winner of the competition will be featured in Muscle & Fitness magazine. The winner also receives a $20,000 grand prize.

When asked what fuels his passion for health and fitness, Skelly said he has “been given a gift” and a “second chance at a peaceful and healthy life.” He wants to have an impact on people throughout his community by practicing a healthy and active lifestyle. Doing so, he hopes, will allow him “to give back and transmit hope to others who are struggling on their journey of self-discovery.”

Brothers Chuck and Michael Skelly donated a portion of the proceeds from a tailgate event, “Brothers Breaking Tables”, held prior to a Buffalo Bills game last year, to benefit the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry. The Skelly brothers are pictured with Bridget Majka, Executive Director and Alex Majka, Community Interaction Coordinator, of the Rural Ministry.

Skelly stated that if he wins the title of Mr. Health & Fitness, he will donate 10% of his winnings to the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry. Another 10% would be donated to Beating the Odds Recovery & Veterans Services, and 10% will go to Susquehanna Recovery Initiative Inc.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Skelly was second in voting, which ends Thursday at 10 p.m. Semifinal voting will begin shortly afterward. Voting is done online at mrhealthandfit.com. The first vote is free, with additional votes available for purchase with a charitable donation.
