COLLINS — A Florida man has died after being struck while walking on state Route 39.

State Police in Collins report that at 6:32 a.m. Saturday, the unit responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. An investigation determined that a 2013 Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound and struck Patrick E. Kerby, 47 of Fleming, Fla., who was walking in the lane of travel.

The 52-year-old operator was cooperative with no signs of impairment. EMS and Collins Fire Department responded to assist. Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office responded and removed the deceased for postmortem examination.
