High winds do damage overnight throughout region

Chautauqua County is waking up to outages and damages from high winds overnight.
There were reports of wires and trees down throughout region since the winds started around 4 p.m. Sunday during a high wind warning. National Grid is reporting 210 outages that are affecting 4,773 customers in Chautauqua County.
Wind gust speeds, according to the National Weather Service from Sunday, include: Dunkirk Airport, 64 mph at 8:22 p.m.; Fredonia, 63 mph at 9:15 p.m.; Forestville, 52 at 7:30 p.m.; Clymer, 47 at 3:30 p.m.; Ripley, 46 at 7:55 p.m.
Some of the damage included downed trees at Memorial Park in city. In Jamestown, a portion of Second Street was closed from Prendergast Avenue to Foote Avenue due to a roof that blew off a building during Sunday’s wind storm.
