For the third time in a month, police activity has led to a shelter in place notice in the north county.

Around 3 p.m. Wednesday, an alert was issued for residents on White Street in Fredonia to shelter in place due to an incident taking place. Others in the area are being asked to avoid the White Street until further notice.

Throughout the afternoon, law enforcement from New York State Police and Fredonia police were at the scene. Other photographs, provided to the OBSERVER from readers, show officers holding rifles at the location.

On March 7, a shelter in place took place in the town of Pomfret after a man in a Westfield shooting led law enforcement on a chase. He was later caught.

In Dunkirk, a shelter in place occurred on March 24 after a drug raid on Franklin Avenue. A city man was later charged after gunshots were fired. An officer was struck in a bullet-proof vest in the incident and was uninjured.
