White Street incident resolved; shelter in place lifted in Fredonia
Police agencies on White Street on Wednesday afternoon.
The Fredonia Police Department lifted the shelter in place for residents on White Street around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
In a news release issued by the department, police say the incident that prompted the shelter in place has been resolved peacefully and without injuries to anyone involved and the area of White Street is safe.
“The Fredonia Police Department would like to thank the New York State Police (North Central, South Central and West SORT Team’s, BCI), City of Dunkirk Police Department, University Police at Fredonia, the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office, Chautauqua County Emergency Services Reverse 911 Notification System, and the Fredonia Fire Department and Ambulance Service,” the release stated.
“The Fredonia Police Department appreciates the support and cooperation from the community during the shelter in place.”
The shelter in place notice was issued on Wednesday afternoon after an incident throughout the day had numerous agencies at the location.
Fredonia Police said more information will follow pending further investigation.
