A historic hotel in the south county has a new owner.

The Post-Journal and OBSERVER have been analyzing real estate sales in Chautauqua County and recently looked at the transactions from Feb. 18-23. The county does not provide transaction information, but real estate documents are available for review at the clerk’s office.

During this time period, Oaks B&B Hotel and Spiritual Center, Inc. sold 1103 West Third St., Jamestown to Robert and Catherine Mayer for $345,000.

According to the Oaks B&B’s website, it was named to represent the arched canopy of century-old oak trees that have been the hallmark of Jamestown’s West Third Street NY Corridor for many generations.

It is a 10,000 sq ft mini Tudor castle built by the regionally well-known architect Raymond Freeburg in 1930.

The website states it is now an AirBnB facility and is no longer offering meals.

The biggest sale during this time was 4072 W. Lake Road, Chautauqua town which sold for $2,950,000. This is described on line as a 6,221 square foot single family home with eight bedrooms and six bathrooms.
