Three-day Fourth of July fest begins Thursday in city

A three-day Fourth of July Celebration with live music, food and refreshment vendors and annual fireworks display kicks off on the Dunkirk waterfront from Thursday to Saturday.
On Thursday, music will be provided by Hintz of Thunder (6 p.m.) followed by Sean Patrick McGraw (7:15) in Memorial Park. The music is sponsored by OWL Homes of Fredonia while the overall presenters include APG, Van Buren Drive-In, National Grid. Our stage is sponsored by DFT Communications and Piede Tents.
On Friday, music will be provided by Tiny Music (5pm) followed by Two for Flinching (7:15) in Memorial Park. Vendors will open at 5 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday.
On Friday, the Fourth of July, vendors start at 11 a.m. with entertainers Screamin’ East (1:30 p.m.), Prestige Worldwide Band (4 p.m.) and ONE- A Tribute to U2 (6:30 p.m.) in Memorial Park.
The night concludes with the singing of the National Anthem by Cathy Ruch and a special Independence Day 250th Anniversary Radio Broadcast with WDOE 101.5 FM/1410 AM followed by the Starfire Corporation fireworks – the largest fireworks display in Chautauqua County.
Dunkirk offered a special thanks to the community and business donors who helped defray the cost of the annual fireworks show. In case of inclement weather, the fireworks will be rescheduled to the following evening on Sunday.
This year’s vendors include Taylor’s Doughboy, Tony’s Waffles, Leworthy’s Concessions, Campi’s Pizza, Merritt Estate Winery Slush Bus, Charlie’s Curly Fries, Franklin Honey & Apples, Santillo’s Inc., Serving Up Smiles, Arly & Izzy’s, The Best of Buffalo by Byron, Fun-B-Que Novelties, Gelati’s Italian Ice, LeafFilter Gutter Protection, Belov’d Creations, J. Leworthy Concessions, Pit Stop Pops, Near Me Dermatology, Angry Bird BBQ, The Bodega Grill, Seasons New Orleans, Maxitaco, Rolling Family Wondering Cowboy, and Steelbound.
The Dunkirk Pier will be fully closed on at 7 a.m. Thursday for firework set up through the afternoon of Sunday for post-event clean up. On July 4, Central Avenue from Lake Shore Drive to the end of the pier will be closed at 6pm to all traffic until after the fireworks display and foot traffic clears. Please be mindful of this for boat launching, as well as exiting any of the boardwalk businesses. No boat mooring will be allowed in the harborfront proximity for fireworks safety.
